Where was WCKC This Week? June 25 – July 2
Where in Central MA was WCKC This Week: This series will feature what we did this week, tips & tricks, what we enjoyed, what was a miss and more. We hope this will help you find places to go in Central MA this summer! (And yes the title of the series is meant to be sung to the tune of “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego”). We will include anything that we think is family-friendly and fun in the area or within a drivable distance to Worcester, MA.
June 25 – July 1
Our big adventure was camping in a nearby state. We spent time preparing for that trip this past week.
Bouncing at Jump Nation in Shrewsbury
One of my kids favorite places to let out energy is Jump Nation in Shrewsbury. This is a great place for older toddlers through elementary grades. At this stage, my kids favorite parts are the massive inflatable slides. Check out their website for their public jumps and ice cream jump times.
They certainly do not get bored in this arena with bubbles, air hockey, numerous inflatables followed by an ice cream snack. Plus, they leave tired out. Win win!
Touch a Truck at Gale Free Library
My mother took my kids to touch a truck at the local library. They loved seeing the big equipment vehicles, climbing inside them, and then making a stop at the library to check in their summer reading hours. I highly recommend checking out our calendar for upcoming library (FREE!) events in the area. We have really enjoyed taking advantage of the awesome programming so far this summer.
Camping at Jamaica State Park

Vermont State Parks
We visit Jamaica State Park in Vermont yearly for camping. We enjoy the the river for swimming, the playground for the kids and the beautifully maintained rail trail for biking and hiking. There is a lot of outdoor adventure opportunities in this area. The nearby Winhall State Park is another fabulous option for camping.
For more information about our experiences at these great campgrounds, read on here.
Other Notable Mentions:
- Lunch at Root N Press where we enjoyed delicious food followed by a scrumptious Oreo Milk Shake. We also bought a cute new picture book Oona and the Shark.
- Strawberry Picking! Check out our local guide to PYO fruits in the area
- Baking homemade chocolate chip banana bread
