WCKC’s Top Ten Weekend Picks – Holiday Weekend Edition! Our calendar of events is full this upcoming weekend! Check out some of our favorites and plan for weekend family fun!

One: Saturday October 8: Holy Cross Football Game at Polar Park: See Holy Cross play at 4pm at the Polar Park Stadium! Fun for the whole family!

Two: Saturday/Sunday October 8-9: Witch Matilda & The Fright Fest: See this annual holiday performance at Drawbridge Puppet Theatre.  Visit the Enchanted Garden before or after the show!

Three: Saturday/Sunday Oct 8-9: Battle for the Airfield, A WWII Reanactment The American Heritage Museum features one of the largest collections of tanks and armored vehicles in the United States. Over 85 artifacts will be on display, including the rare WWII German Panther tank, a combat veteran Russian IS-2 tank, an Iraqi SCUD missile and many other one-of-a-kind artifacts and vehicles.

Four: Sunday Oct 9: Clinton Dam Day: Twice a year, you have an opportunity to walk across the Clinton Dam. Learn about the history from park Rangers.  It’s free!  10am-1pm

Five: Sunday October 9: Shrewsbury Street Italian Heritage Parade, Carnival & Fireworks: Starting at noon on Aitchison Street near Piccadilly Plazato and marching down Shrewsbury Street ending at Union Station. Carnival Wristbands are required $20 admission per child. Bands, Food, Small Business and Artisan Vendors at Christoforo Colombo East Park until 6:30 pm. Fireworks after dusk.

Six: All Weekend: Hollis Hills Farm Fall Festival11am-4pm (with live music going later) each day. PYO pumpkins, animals, food, vendors, pyo apples and pumpkins.

Seven: All Weekend: NEBG Fairy Fest:  A weekend full of magic as fairy friends transform the Garden into a realm filled with imagination, wonder, and enchantment. Enjoy brews and local fare at our Beer Garden, browse the fairyland market, and discover hidden fairy houses along the way.

Eight: Weekends All Month: Phantoms of Firelight: . A Halloween experience of epic—and eerie—proportions! Dress up in costume and see what OSV has in store for you this month. Event runs Friday-Sunday evenings all month. Get advance tickets.

Nine: All Month:  Lake Street Park Storywalk: Walk your way through a story. This month’s book is The Good, The Bad, and the Spooky. Daily all month.

Ten: All Month: Discovery Museum $2.50 Admission: To celebrate their 40th anniversary this year, they are rolling back the cost of admission to 1982! All month long, you can enjoy the museum for only $2.50 admission!
