Rice Krispie Turkey Legs: Make these and be the coolest person at Thanksgiving!
- 8 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal
- 6 Pretzel Rods
- 1 Bag White Candy Melts
- 1 10 oz. bag Mini Marshmallows (reserving 24)
- 1/4 cup butter
- Wax paper

#1 Break 6 pretzel rods in half. Melt the white candy melts according to the package directions.
#2 Dip the tip of the pretzel rod into the white melt and adhere two marshmallows to the end of each pretzel rod, side by side. Lay on the waxed paper and let dry.
#3 Dip the pretzel end with the marshmallows into the candy melts and cover nearly to the end. Lay on the waxed paper and let dry. Don’t worry about covering the whole rod for the end of it will be covered with Rice Krispies.
#4 Melt the remaining marshmallows and butter in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir until combined and smooth. Now add in your Rice Krispies cereal and mix until combined.
#5 Coat your hands using butter or cooking spray. (You may also use rubber gloves coated with butter or spray). Grab a handful of rice krispie and form a ball. Push onto the end of the pretzel and form into the shape of a turkey leg. Place them on the wax paper and let set about 20 minutes.

Here was my version from last year– they were pretty good for a first attempt. But I’m a perfectionist, so here’s what I did wrong.
#1 I used whole pretzel rods which made my turkey legs huge. I would recommend breaking in half or maybe three quarters depending on how long they are to begin with.
#2 I had no idea that “candy melts” were actually a thing so I used white chocolate instead– which is OK, but white chocolate is much thicker than candy melts so it didn’t coat the pretzel rods as easily. Get the candy melt which can be found in the baking section of the grocery store.
#3 I put the marshmallows on each side of the pretzel end (creating a very pronounced “T” shape). I *should* have attached the marshmallows to the bottom end of the pretzel rod. Like I said, I’m a perfectionist.
I’ve heard some people dip the turkey legs in milk chocolate for “gravy” or using cocoa crispies for a different color. If you try these, send us your pictures, we’d love to see them!
