My Kids Go-To Snack: No Bake Protein Balls

My Kids Go-To Snack: My kids get so excited when I prepare no bake protein balls for them for snacking. I’m happy because it is a good source of protein and they are happy because they enjoy the chocolate peanut buttery goodness.

I use the recipe for no bake energy bites on allrecipes.com as my base recipe with a few alterations. (Featured photo courtesy of allrecipes.com).

No-Bake Energy Bites

Ingredients

Combine the above ingredients in a bowl. Form it into balls in your hands. Put them on a baking sheet and freeze them (or if you don’t mind a lumpy, less perfect looking form, you can just stick them in Tupperware and put them in the fridge).

Other recipes for protein balls sometimes include sesame seeds, chia seeds or vanilla extract, but this more simple recipe works for us. You can use crunchy peanut butter, but I use smooth peanut butter per my kids’ preference.

In addition, my girls prefer when I use regular size chocolate chips over the mini chocolate chips, and I will just use whichever bag I have open at the time of preparation. I also over pour the oats so it is a little over one cup.  Sometimes I double the recipe because my girls fly through these.
