Movie Review: DC League of Super Pets. I took the kids to the movies this past weekend to see the new kids movie DC League of Super-Pets. Because this film is in the DC comic universe, you will find well known characters like Superman and Batman. You will also recognize voices from famous actors like John Krasinski, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.
The premise of the film
Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis. When Superman is kidnapped by an evil mastermind, Krypto knows it is up to him to save his best friend. However, Krypto must learn to make friends with other animals (and not just rely solely on his friendship with Superman) and master his own powers. Check out the official trailer to the movie here.
Should you take the kids?
The movie is a bit violent, as would be expected in any superhero cartoon. Both my girls enjoyed the movie. My oldest who is almost 8 said she loved the movie. She said it was funny and she liked the relationship between Krypto and Superman. My four year old said she liked it but that she would not watch it again because “it is too scary for me.” In fairness, all movies are too scary for her from The Little Mermaid to Raya and the Last Dragon. If your kids like superhero movies or the Pets movies, they will definitely enjoy this flick.
In the summer, we are always looking for new things to do and a respite from the heat of summer. The girls love getting popcorn and juice. It is a fun special outing regardless of the cinematic quality of the movie.
I did not think this movie had much for the parents, so it is not a movie I would want to watch again. But the overall experience of bringing the kids was a good time.
This movie is showing at many area movie theaters including West Boylston Cinemas at a less expensive rate than other area theaters.
