Joy of Music’s Birth to Six Year Olds Programs!

The Joy of Music Program (JOMP) is excited to announce their class schedule for infants – age 6! See below for the great selection of programs and JOMP to it!

JOMP Start, Music Classes for Infants to Age 6

JOMP Start, a unique array of classes designed to joyfully lead little one’s to lifelong love of learning music.

Saturdays

Baby Jomp for infants to age 2 with Jenny Griffin– Tiny Jompers wiggle, wriggle and giggle in these first-step music classes. Songs, finger play, movement, bouncing, scarves, shakers, percussion, and listening create a joyful, bonding experience.

Saturdays 9 – 9:45 am

Tot Jomp for 3’s & 4’s with Jenny Griffin – Little Jompers musically explore their world through multicultural melodies and songs, rhythms, patterns, instrument-play, improvisations, stories, and movement. Music vocabulary and concepts are introduced. Parents/caregivers receive home music resources.

Saturdays 10 – 10:45 am

Jomp into Instruments for 5’s & 6’s with Jenny Griffin – Musical steps toward success in instrumental lessons come from joyful preparation. These pre-instrumental classes pave the way as Jompers explore percussion, keyboard and string instruments. Students learn music fundamentals, rhythm and note reading on keyboard, ukulele, and violin. An in-class showcase for families allows children their first ensemble performance opportunity.

Saturdays 12:45 – 1:45 pm

Week Days

Sing & Sway for infants to year 4 with Patti Lahey – Children and caregivers move to a wide variety of music from classical to R&B to jazz and more. Creative movement, improvisation, and rhythm games build self-expression, confidence, interaction, and body awareness.

Thursdays 11 – 11:45 am

Music & Movement for 3’s & 4’s with Linnea Lyerly – Children and caregivers learn songs, pulse and beats in this interactive class. Designed to maximize social interaction, children are also introduced to musical concepts through movement and rhythm play.

Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:15 pm

Music & Movement for 5’s & 6’s with Linnea Lyerly – Independence is highlighted as children (without caregivers) play together musically. Pre-instrumental music fundamentals create a strong foundation for future instrument lessons.

Mondays 4:30 – 5:15 pm

Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:15 pm

Sing, Circle, Boom! For 5’s & 6’s with Nan Gibbons – Drumming, movement, and special songs encourage creative instrument play while reinforcing pitch, ensemble and more.

Thursdays 4:30 – 5:15 pm

Tuition: $190 per 10-week session

Joy of Music Program (JOMP) was founded in 1986 by Wendy Webster Ardizzone. Her vision was to create a musical community that reflects the rich diversity of the greater Worcester area. With its core of outstanding faculty of more than 40 musician educators, JOMP draws students, faculty, staff, volunteers, and donors together in a joyful community united by music education and performance. Access informs all JOMP’s programming. With a beautiful facility (a former nursing home), JOMP has created a fully accessible space for all. Additionally, JOMP believes that no determining factor should stand in the way of a gaining a quality music education.
