Upcoming  KidSunday Author Events

September 20: 2 pm

Ahoy! Jack is off to school, but his school is no ordinary one! From waking up in his hammock to learning his A, B… Arrrs!, every moment of Jack’s day is full of surprises. This is a perfect StoryTime for the day after National Talk Like a Pirate Day! Look forward to having you join us!

With rollicking verses and clever, pirate-themed “anti-rhymes” on each page, Set Sail for School turns the school day into a high-seas adventure. Packed with bright illustrations, a motley crew, and a bonus “Pirate Dictionary,” Set Sail for School is a giggle-filled read for little buccaneers.

Date TBD

Joanne Roach-Evans is a local author and illustrator of six children’s beginner guidebooks about seashore life. Her newest is Beach Rocks. Come hear the story, then stay and do a craft with one of Joanne’s beach rocks and take home a memory of a wonderful summer. We look forward to having you join us!

Beach Rocks is about common rocks and pebbles found along the Northeast Coast of the United States. It covers their shapes, sizes, and the pebbles people most enjoy collecting. From Maine’s “wishing stones” to New Jersey’s Cape May “diamonds,” this beginner’s guide explores the beautiful beach pebbles of the coast. The back pages include a helpful guide for identifying the pebbles you are most likely to find. It covers common minerals such as quartz, epidote, and feldspar, as well as rocks including basalt, rhyolite, granite, jasper, puddingstone, gneiss, schist, slate, and quartzite.
